The story behind BestSportsBet

BestSportsBet exists because South African punters deserve honest, locally-grounded information about the bookmakers they actually use. We started the site because we were tired of reading "review" pages that looked like they had been copy-pasted from a marketing brief — usually because that is exactly what they were.

What we do

We open real money accounts at every bookmaker we write about. We run through registration, upload FICA, test the welcome bonus end-to-end, place a mix of sportsbook and casino bets, and then attempt withdrawals. We note what works, what does not, and how the operator compares to its competitors.

That process takes time — sometimes two or three weeks per operator for a deep review — which is why we do not cover every affiliate that emails us. We would rather publish 12 genuinely tested reviews than 40 shallow ones.

Who we recommend, and why

Our default recommendation for most South African punters is Hollywoodbets. We recommend it because it consistently scores highest on the five factors that actually matter to a punter: market depth, pricing, mobile UX, payout reliability and customer support. If another operator eventually beats Hollywoodbets across those factors, we will say so.

How affiliate relationships work

When you click through to a bookmaker from this site and open an account, we may receive a commission. That commission is paid by the operator, not by you, and it does not change the terms of your account or your bonus. Our reviews would be identical if we were not paid — if anything, affiliate arrangements keep us honest, because a dishonest review drives readers away and we would lose the long-run revenue.

We do not mark outbound links as sponsored or nofollow because the relationship is editorial, not paid-placement — the writing is our independent view, and the operator has no say over what we publish.
