• Take time off — a no-betting week or month will often reset perspective on whether you are still having fun.
• Keep a record — log every bet. If you cannot face the monthly total, that is information worth acting on.
• Never bet money earmarked for rent, food, school fees or bills.

• Stake limits: cap the size of a single bet.

• Self-exclusion: a permanent lockout that also stops marketing contact. This is the nuclear option — use it if you need it.
